Based on the recommendation of the High Level committee on Indian Diaspora, the Government of India decided to register Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) of certain category as has been specified in the Section 7A of the Citizenship Act, 1955 as Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) Cardholder
Liberalized Remittance Scheme (LRS)
Under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme, banks may freely allow remittances by resident individuals up to USD 2,50,000 per Financial Year (April to March) for any permitted current or capital account transaction or a combination of both. The Scheme is not available to corporates, partnership firms, HUF, Trusts, etc.
